About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you’ll work closely with a diverse range of business clients and be involved in:
- Business advisory services.
- Tax planning and compliance for business.
- Financial statement preparation.
- Management reporting.
- Business structures and strategic advice.
- Mentoring and reviewing junior team members.
- Building strong long-term client relationships.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving problems, adding value and becoming a trusted advisor.
About you
- 5+ years’ experience in public practice.
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation.
- A proven ability in managing client advisory and compliance.
- Experience with companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs.
- Broad experience working with private clients and small business.
- Xero and cloud accounting experience.
- Advanced organisational skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- CA membership preferred.
- A genuine desire to help clients succeed.
- Eligibility to work in Australia as an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

What experience do I need to be a Senior Accountant at Accumen?
Accumen looks for at least 5 years in public practice, strong Australian taxation knowledge, experience with companies, trusts, partnerships and self managed super funds, and Xero and cloud accounting experience. CA membership is preferred and CA or CPA study is supported.
Is the Senior Accountant role compliance work or advisory?
Both, with real advisory content. Alongside financial statements, tax returns and compliance deadlines, you work on business advisory, tax planning, management reporting, business structures and strategic advice, and you mentor and review junior team members.
Does Accumen support CA or CPA study for senior staff?
Yes. Accumen provides ongoing CA and CPA support, study leave and quality continuing professional development, and continues to invest in the qualification for staff at senior level.
Where is the role based?
The role is based onsite at 28 William St, Bathurst NSW 2795, in the Bathurst CBD, roughly 2.5 hours west of Sydney. It is a full-time position with a five-minute commute rather than a city one.
